Job Description:

As a Temporary School Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students during a four-week period from July 22nd to August 18th. You will work closely with our dedicated team to provide high-quality healthcare services and support to students aged 11 to 18 years old.

Responsibilities:

  1. Healthcare Provision: Provide primary healthcare services, including first aid, assessment, and treatment of minor injuries and illnesses.
  2. Medication Management: Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare providers and maintain accurate records of medication administration.
  3. Health Promotion: Promote health and wellness through education, preventive care, and health promotion initiatives tailored to the needs of adolescents.
  4. Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, ensuring appropriate interventions and coordination with emergency services if necessary.
  5. Health Assessment: Conduct health assessments and screenings to identify health concerns and facilitate early intervention and referral to appropriate healthcare professionals.
  6. Health Records: Maintain confidential and accurate health records for all students, ensuring compliance with relevant privacy regulations and school policies.
  7. Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, parents, and external healthcare providers to support the overall well-being of students and facilitate continuity of care.
  8. Health Education: Deliver engaging and age-appropriate health education sessions on topics such as nutrition, hygiene, mental health, and substance abuse prevention.
  9. Documentation: Complete incident reports, health assessments, and other required documentation in a timely and thorough manner.
  10. Professional Development: Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school nursing through participation in professional development activities and continuing education opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with a valid license to practice in the United Kingdom.
  • Experience working with adolescents in a healthcare setting, preferably in a school or community health setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills, with the ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct in all aspects of the role.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines, and policies related to school nursing and child protection.
  • Current certification in first aid and basic life support (BLS) is preferred.
